Name: Aaron James 'AJ' Conant

Species: Human - Fire Ability
Status: Street Kid
Abilities:
Pyrokinesis- He doesn't know the name of it, but AJ has been able to create fire from nothing from an early age. He only has nominal control of it, and has been known to accidentally set things on fire when he gets upset in some way. As he is a hormonal teenager, it's been happening a good bit more since he was about twelve. Still, he's learning some control over it, but could use more help. He's also technically fire proof.
Street Smarts - AJ, along with his sister, has been surviving on the streets since their parents died when he was very young. While he has no formal education to speak of, he can read the tags on the walls in the alleys to know where to go and where not to go, can find or steal food when need be, and can find shelter at night if he doesn't make the curfew of the local teen shelters.
Brief History:
AJ, along with his older sister, Angela, were orphaned at a young age when their parents were in a car wreck. As they were the only family they had, Angela quickly suggested them running away rather than ended up in foster care where they would likely be separated from one another. Angela was quite a bit older than her brother, and had always been protective of him. She took care of him when he was young, and he helped to start to protect her to once he grew up and came into his abilities.
Neither sibling is quite sure when AJ first started to show that he was able to conjure up fire from nothing. AJ's pretty sure that he's always been able to do it. Angela will joke that they're both lucky that he's never hurt either of them. However, he only has nominal control of his ability. He can do it on command, at least most of the time, but he is also just as likely to light something on fire when he's upset. It usually just sticks to things like lighting his own clothes on fire, so it's more a nuisance than anything. If anyone tries to hurt his sister, though, they'll burn for it.
Right now AJ and Angela are looking for a more permanent place to live. Angela has gotten a job at a local diner, and they are both saving any money that they come across so that, soon enough, they should be able to at least afford a studio apartment and not have to live on the streets, anymore.

Name: Daniel Loehr

Status: Leader and head of the Portman Institute
Abilities:
-Touch-Know - Daniel affectionately calls himself a touch-know. He has the ability to touch a person and object and glean information from them. His ability is actually so strong that he has to wear gloves all the time. It's a rare thing to see him not wearing them.
-Soothing Personality - While there's nothing supernatural to it, Daniel has the ability to sooth almost anyone into a calm. Maybe it's just all the practice that he's had trying to control teenagers.
Brief History:
Daniel was born in a small town in The Netherlands, but immigrated to the States when he was eighteen so that he could go to college. He had always dreamed of living in the U.S., and he had decided to go to school to learn to work with teenagers. He got his degrees in social work geared toward youth, and his life seemed pretty clear.
When he was in his thirties, he was in a boating accident where he drowned and was clinically dead for several minutes. He doesn't remember anything as far as a bright light and tunnel are concerned, but he did come back to life with the ability to touch objects and people and read information from them. It was actually quite strong (a blinding headache along with information in the form of pictures and sometimes words) and he couldn't turn it off. He found that wearing a pair of leather gloves at all times was a good way to prevent getting the information from people and things. As such, he very rarely if ever is seen without the gloves on his hands.
After this, he started to focus his work more toward teens with supernatural abilities. You'd be amazed how many kids have run away from home because of their 'freak' powers. About a year or so ago Talia Portman got in touch with him and together they started to put together The Portman Institute, with him as the leader and her as the financial backer.

Name: Jamie Thompson
Age: 16
Species: Slayer
Status: Student at Ronald Regan High School
Abilities: Slayer abilities, speed, strength, supernatural senses, prophetic dreams.
Brief History: Jamie was born in a nicer portion of the midwest. She is the second child of her parents, with one older brother. She looked up to her older brother all her life. He was the jock who protected her from anyone who might want to tease her. She was more interested in school work. She liked to write stories. When she started having dreams of girls who went through the night killing vampires, she thought she had struck a goldmine and starting to write down her dreams. When one of those creatures came up to her and tried to bite her, she wanted to hide under her bed.
Somehow, a vampire had figured out where a new Slayer lived, and tried to attack her. She somehow managed to put a tree branch through its chest, and then promptly threw up and fainted. Her parents, who had seen the entire thing, didn't know what to do. It was only because a Watcher came to her home a few days later to explain things that they all didn't try to check themselves into a clinic.

Abilities: Knowledge of human physiology, combat medic training.
Brief History: Fransisco was born and grew up in LA. He was born to a family of six children, and knew from an early age that he didn't want to stay in the tiny two bedroom apartment that his family had to live in. His father worked two jobs, and his mother worked one as well, so he barely saw his parents. His siblings tended to either marry off young and produce more children, or start joining gangs around the city. He was an uncle by the age of eight, and went to his first funeral by the age of ten for his older brother. He knew he wanted out.
He kept his grades high in school, but he couldn't afford college Instead, he signed up for the army, hoping that it would pay his way through school. They paid for his medical training, and he served time in Eastern Europe as a combat medic once his training was complete. Once his tours of duty were over, he elected to go back to LA. He signed up to work in LA's General Hospital in the ER, since it wasn't much different than what he had seen before. At least, that's what he thought.

Status: Lead guitarist and co-lead singer of Devilock.
Abilities: Talented at guitar playing and song writing.
Brief History: Anthony was born in a small mid-western town of no importance. Obviously, he hated it. He was the third son of four sons, and lived on a farm, which he hated working on. He showed promise with music at an early age, but his father didn't exactly encourage. As soon as he saved up some money from an after school job delivering pizzas, he ran off to LA at the age of seventeen, like so many others before him.
After working mostly at restaurants and jamming with random bands on the weekends for a few years, he first met Edie, and it was...something, at first sight. So many people think that they are dating, but their relationship isn't quite like that. There is no one word that could describe their relationship. They did work so well together, though, that they eventually formed the band Devilock.
